Simsail is an app for buying mobile data plans (eSIMs) for travel. It is published by Oryx Digital LLC (“we”, “us”). This page says what information the app handles, why, and what you can do about it.
What we collect, and why
- Your email address, when you sign in. Buying needs an account, so that your eSIMs and your credit follow you to another phone. We use the address to sign you in and to answer you. We send no advertising to it. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive from them your email address and the name on that account.
- What you buy: the plans, their price, any discount, your credit and its history, your invitation code and who invited whom. We need this to deliver your eSIMs, to show them in the app and to give the rewards.
- Your eSIMs: each eSIM’s number, its installation code, how much data it has used and until when it is valid. These come from the mobile network supplier and are shown to you in the app.
- An identifier of your phone. The app sends the identifier that Android gives it on your phone (on an iPhone, the one Apple gives it). We keep only a scrambled fingerprint of it, which cannot be turned back into the identifier. It tells us when two accounts are one person’s, so that rewards for inviting friends are not abused.
- Your payments: for each payment, its reference at the payment company, its amount and what became of it (the eSIM it paid for, or that it was refunded). We need this to deliver what you paid for and for our accounts.
- What you write to us through the contact form, and in your requests in the app: your email address, your messages and our answers. From the app, the form also sends your phone’s model, its system version and the app’s version, and the eSIM concerned if you choose one. We use this to answer you, in the app and by email.
- Your internet address (IP). Our hosting company handles it to deliver the service and to protect it from abuse.
What we do not collect
- No location, no contacts, no advertising identifier.
- No advertising and no tracking or analytics tools.
- The profile picture you choose stays on your phone. It is never sent to us.
- Your card details. You type them into the payment company’s own form, or you pay with Google Pay. They go to the payment company and never reach us.
Who receives it
- We do not sell your information, and we give none of it to advertisers.
- Cloudflare hosts the app’s server and this website, stores this information for us, and sends our emails: your sign-in codes and our answers to your messages.
- Stripe handles the payments. It receives your card details, the amount, a short description of the plan you buy and your email address, for the receipt. Its software inside the app also collects information about your phone, to prevent fraud. Stripe uses all of this under its own privacy policy (stripe.com/privacy). If you pay with Google Pay, Google takes part in the payment under its own terms.
- The mobile network supplier that issues your eSIM receives the order: which plan, and nothing that says who you are.
- We give information to the authorities only when the law obliges us to.
All of it travels encrypted between the app and our server. On your phone, the key that keeps you signed in sits in the phone’s protected storage.
How long we keep it
- Your account and what goes with it: until you delete it.
- After you delete it: your name, your email address, your ways of signing in, the list of your eSIMs and your credit are deleted at once. We keep the records of purchases, without your name or email address, for our accounts, and the scrambled fingerprints of your phone and of your email address, so that rewards for new customers are not claimed twice.
- Your messages to us and our answers: up to two years after the last message.
Your choices
- Delete your account in the app (Account, then “Delete my account”), or without the app on the page Delete your account.
- See, correct or get a copy of what we hold about you: ask us with the contact form or at contact@getsimsail.com.
- If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to object to how we use your information and to complain to your data protection authority.
Children
The app is for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this page
When the app starts handling information differently, this page changes first, with a new date at the top.
